I'm Denali. I am currently a senior at San Diego State University, majoring in Journalism and Dance. In my professional career, I plan to continue writing, dancing, and teaching after graduation. After taking the magazine writing class at SDSU, I’ve learned how much I enjoy that type of writing and production style. I would love to work in that sort of field in the future. I’m interested in the ability to add your personality and style to the writing more than you can with typical newswriting.
I also plan to continue teaching dance, expanding the classes and styles I teach. I’m interested in teaching youth and adult classes in a variety of styles. I also hope to continue dancing and performing myself with other local modern dancers and groups. A quote I learned through one of my dance classes at SDSU is “Ready, fire, aim” by Debrah Hay. The idea represents the body's ability to jump into a movement and make a decision or reaction before the mind can respond. It's something I remind myself of often when creating dance or improvising, to help take away a lot of the anxiety and worry.
